HOME ABOUT US OUR STRENGTHS TECHNOLOGY CONTACTS

  Social & Environmental Commitment

We at Eskimo Fashion believe strongly in the old adage “Charity begins at home”. We strongly believe that before we allocate resources to champion causes outside we need to ensure that our employees and the immediate environments in which they live are supported.

A majority of our employees come from the immediate vicinity of the plant and therefore the plant itself is woven into the fabric of this society.

Therefore we at EFK believe that looking after our employees as well as the immediate surroundings are one and the same and are mutually beneficial to each other.

As a third step we also feel that EFK now needs to take on a more pronounced role on a national level and be able to influence future generations in a way that will ensure lasting peace in our country. We therefore have recently begun a project in which children from all ethnicities from war affected villages have a chance to meet, interact and build bridges that will last them their whole life. The overall objective is to remove some of the prejudices that have been built by earlier generations by building trust and mutual understanding.

  Eskimo Cares

One and half year Old Nilesh Medhya was in urgent need of a heart operation to widen an artery that was not supplying sufficient blood to his little heart.

Having seen the plea by his parents who live close to the factory Eskimo decided to help. Eskimo then contributed the funds needed to help baby Nilesh. After a 7 hour operation and several days anxious days in the intensive care unit of the Sri Jayawardenapura Hostpital doctors finally pronounced that Baby Nilesh was out of danger and on his way back to recovery.

Today he is a fast growing, healthy and active baby and the parents who visited the plant subsequent to the operation profusely thanked the company for being instrumental in saving their babies life.

Social Compliance

To carry on operating in the markets we serve the Company is fully aware of the need to ensure social compliance particularly with regard to labour standards.  To this end the “Labour Standards and Employment Relations Manual” of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka has been endorsed and adopted by the Company.  As such the Company effectively promotes the principles which underlie the related International Labour Standards.

Eskimo in order to foster and ensure good relations with our staff holds an annual Christmas party to which all employees are invited. Long service awards are made on 10 year, 15 year and 20 year intervals and the fact that many employees have remained with the company for over 20 years speaks for itself.
